Gary A. Betz II, MD

Gary A. Betz II, MD is a native of Columbus, Ohio where he attended Otterbein College earning a Bachelors Degree in Life Science and graduating Magna Cum Laude with distinctions. He worked at Silliker Laboratories and The Ohio State University Medical Center while he continued his education at The Ohio State University. Dr. Betz attended medical school at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. Upon his completion of medical school, Dr. Betz moved to Phoenix, Arizona where he completed his Internal Medicine Residency at St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center. Dr. Betz is Board Certified by The National Board of Physicians and Surgeons. In 2010, Dr Betz was named one of Phoenix's "Top Docs" by his peers and recognized in Phoenix Magazine.
Dr. Betz has always had an interest in teaching. During college he worked as a teaching assistant in many of the science labs at Otterbein. Upon completing his residency he was asked to serve as Chief Resident and Junior Faculty for St. Joseph's Hospital's Internal Medicine Residency Program. He was promoted to a Full Time Academic Hospitalist where he worked prior to opening his outpatient practice. He continues to teach medical residents, nurse practitioner students and physician assistant students.
Dr. Betz is married with two children. His wife is a Neuroscience Intensive Care Nurse. She has been honored as Employee of the Year for Dignity Healthcare at St Joseph's Hospital. She has also worked as an elementary assistant teacher and is currently a School Nurse. They live in north Scottsdale. In his free time Dr. Betz enjoys being a father, working on home improvement projects, movies, reading, karate and golfing.
